11:15 AM on Wednesday Jan 23, 2008I was born and raised in Woodstock, IL, about 30 minutes east of Rockford. I grew up in a sports-loving family and played pretty much every sport you can at some point. Quickly realizing I was not going to make a career of playing sports, I decided to go the route of talking about sports for a living. I got my first broadcasting job while in college at Winona State University in Minnesota doing play-by-play and color commentary for basketball, football, and baseball. I was sports director at KQAL-FM 89.5 in Winona and also hosted a weekly sports rundown on Monday nights. I dabbled into TV briefly serving as play-by-play and/or color commentator for HBC-TV in Winona for about 2 years. I graduated in December 2007 and can now be heard doing Sportscenter updates on ESPN Radio 1380 as well as filling in from time to time wherever they need me. I am living in Woodstock for now, but will be moving to the area soon with my fiancée Amy when she graduates in May.
