NIC-10 teams travel for holiday tournament play

This week, each team in the NIC-10 traveled around the state of Illinois to play in a variety of holiday tournaments.

The Boylan Titans traveled to Pekin Community High School for the Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament, one of the longest-running tournaments in the state.  Out of the 16 teams in the tournament, Boylan is seated #2.  The Titans take on the Morton Potters and the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers.

Also in the Pekin Tournament, Freeport  goes head –to-head with the #3 Pekin Dragons and the John Hersey Huskies.

Auburn took on the Foreman Hornets last weekend the Proviso West Holiday Tournament .  The Knights defeated the Hornets 75-67, and go on to play Proviso East this weekend.

East is among the top four seeded teams in the Elgin Holiday Tournament .  Rockford East reached the Class 3A Elite Eight last season before falling to eventual state champion Peoria. The E-Rabs jump to Class 4A this season and meet the Hoffman Estates Hawks and the Batavia Bulldogs.

Jefferson fell to the Bartlett Hawks 51-49 in the Jacobs Holiday Tournament on Wednesday.  They go on to play Prairie Ridge and Barrington this week.

Hononegah travels to Bloomington, Illinois to meet  Mahomet-Seymour and North Chicago in the 34th Annual State Farm Holiday Classic.

In the 85th Annual DeKalb Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament, the Harlem Huskies defeated the Schurz Bulldogs and the Dekalb Barbs on December 21st and 22nd.  They take on Winnebago and Geneseo later this week.

Belvidere takes on Coal City in the first round of the 50th Annual Plano Christmas Classic.   Belvidere defeated Yorkville 61-51 for the title in last year’s tournament.

Belvidere North  meets East Aurora, Pleasure Ridge Park of Louisville, Kentucky, and Oswego East in the 47th Annual East Aurora Holiday Tournament.
