First Round Playoff Action in the Big 8 Conference

     The brackets have been released for the WIAA State Basketball Tournament and the games involving Big 8 teams are as follows. All Big 8 teams are seeded in the SECTIONAL #3 bracket of the tournament. I have named the first bracket in SECTIONAL #3 “North” and the second bracket “South” for clarity. Big 8 teams are featured in bold. 

 

Tuesday, February 19: 

     *North:  #8 Verona Wildcats vs. #9 Oconomowoc Raccoons 

     -Game hosted at Verona Area High School

 

     *South:  #8 Kenosha Bradford Red Devils vs. #9 Janesville Parker Vikings

Friday, February 22:

    * -The second round of regionals will be hosted on Saturday, February 23 at the highest ranking teams home gym. Example: If Sun Prairie wins on Friday, Feb. 22, they will host on Saturday, Feb. 23 against the winner of Madison West and Middleton.

 

    * -The sectional games for SECTIONAL #3 will be hosted at Watertown High School for the “North” bracket and at Burlington High School for the “South” bracket of SECTIONAL #3 on Thursday, February 28.

 

    * -The Sectional Final will be hosted at Sun Prairie High School on Saturday, March 2 and will feature the winner of the “North” bracket vs. the winner of the “South” bracket. 

 

    * -The WIAA State Tournament Semifinals will be held on Friday, March 8 and will feature the winner of the SECTIONAL #3 vs. the winner of SECTIONAL #4.

 

    * -The WIAA State Tournament Championship Game will be held on Saturday, March 9 and will feature the winner of the SECTIONAL #1 vs. SECTIONAL #2 game vs. the winner of the SECTIONAL #3 vs. SECTIONAL #4 game.
